HBO’S THE LAST OF US Snags Director
HBO and Craig Mazin’s upcoming adaptation of The Last of Us will be the first television series from PlayStation Productions.
And today we learned that Johan Renck (Chernobyl) will direct the pilot.
Renck is also known for helming episodes of such shows as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Bates Motel.
Neil Druckmann, the writer and creative director of the game will work with Mazin to pen and executive produce the series. Carolyn Strauss will also executive produce along with Evan Wells. The project is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions.
For those of you that might not know, The Last of Us is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Players control Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenage girl, Ellie, across the post-apocalyptic United States.
