GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Director Teasing KONGZILLA?
Don’t get too excited just yet. Let it be known right off the bat that there are currently no plans for Kongzilla to stomp it’s misshapen monster ass onto the big screen anytime soon… that we know of.
That said, Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty just posted a photo of his beloved Kongzilla figure over on Instagram. The piece is super rare and has become a collector’s piece amongst fans.
Check out his post below.
Bowen Designs created the figure after wondering what a hybrid of the two monsters would look like. While never made canon, Bowen Designs’ story behind the figure dates back to 1962 when Godzilla and King Kong fought for the first time and caused immeasurable damage to themselves and mankind. Pieces of the monsters were strewn about from the fight, and a scientist made the hybrid after piecing the parts back together.

Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters centered on members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch who face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species-thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
It sports a 42% on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Godzilla: King of the Monsters delivers spectacular kaiju action — and reaffirms that cutting-edge effects are still no substitute for a good story.
