The Best Horror Movies Streaming Now on Hulu

Last Updated: April 3, 2025

While it is not Huluween anymore, Hulu is still giving the genre kids enough to keep us happy this April. They are adding a ton of thrillers like The Da Vinci Code, Gone Girl, and Widows. The app will also add 2024 titles like Azrael, Classified, and Oddity. So, while the lineup is not as packed as we have come to expect from the streamer, there are a few films to check out this month. I even managed to find five movies that I cannot wait to revisit while I am waiting for spring to start in earnest. Because I am so nice I will share my notes if you want to see some weird, wild, and well-made cinema.

Check out my five picks for April.

Copycat (dir. Jon Amiel)

An agoraphobic criminal psychologist helps two San Francisco detectives hunt for a copycat serial killer following in the footsteps of the man who attempted to kill her years ago. This 1995 thriller changed the course of my childhood and became one of my favorites of the subgenre. This all-star cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Holly Hunter, Dermot Mulroney, and Will Patton. It also has Harry Connick Jr. in the most unsettling role he has ever had. So, I plan to aggressively hit play on Copycat while it is on Hulu this month. Who knows, maybe this rewatch I will finally write an essay, so I can stop yelling about it in streaming guides for a little while.

The Equalizer (dir. Antoine Fuqua)

A man trying to put his violent past behind him is pulled back in when he befriends a young woman entangled with Russian gangsters. The rest of America might run on Dunkin, but I run on Denzel Washington thrillers. I adore The Equalizer trilogy and think they are some of the best of the one-man army action movies we have gotten this millennium. I am now also in the camp of people who believe it is a secret slasher from the killer’s point of view. They are brutal and bloody adventures that promise fun deaths for the bad guys. I am happy to see this one on Hulu this month because spring feels like a good time to watch Denzel deliver some beatdowns to gangsters who tried it.

In a Violent Nature (dir. Chris Nash)

A group of teens take a locket from a collapsed tower in the woods and accidentally awaken a vengeful spirit. I know this movie has become a very divisive title among horror fans. However, I am one of the people who found In a Violent Nature to be a cool little entry to the slasher genre. I think Johnny’s quest for blood led to amazing kills, and some funny moments while proving there is still terror in the woods when it is not Friday the 13th. So, I am excited to see more people stumble across this indie movie and restart the online arguments. I think it is a great title to throw on with friends, for virtual watch parties, or to vibe out with after a long week. So, I am happy it’s arriving on Hulu for people who missed it in theaters and on Shudder.

Jumanji (dir. Joe Johnston)

Two kids play a board game that releases a man who has been trapped inside for decades. I will always cheat a streaming guide for a movie starring the late Robin Williams. Williams was an important part of most of our childhoods and his death still weighs heavily on many millenials. Jumanji is a fun, ridiculous, and wild little movie that is one of the few highlights of my childhood. It also stars Kirsten Dunst, Bonnie Hunt, and David Alan Grier among a sea of nineties favorites. Kids today will never understand how good we had it back in the good old days. They will also never fully grasp the feeling of disappointment when the adults never got us the Jumanji board game for Christmas. For all of those reasons and more, this is my favorite movie hitting Hulu this month.

Jurassic Park (dir. Steven Spielberg)

Experts are invited to a theme park where cloned dinosaurs roam. What seems like a fantastical experience soon turns to terror when a power failure results in the creatures getting out of their enclosures. Like much of Spielberg’s best work, Jurassic Park lives somewhere in the genre but is sometimes contested. This is why I plan to revisit this epic tale of people abusing science so I can add more arguments to my case for why it’s a horror movie. I also love that Hulu is adding it this April because running from dinosaurs seems like a springtime activity. I hope I am not the only one revisiting the best entry of the franchise this month.
