DEAD ALIVE Director Peter Jackson Honors ALIEN Star Ian Holm
On Friday, Ian Holm passed away at the age of 88. And today, director Peter Jackson took to Facebook to write and share a tribute to the actor.
He writes: “I’m feeling very sad at the passing of Sir Ian Holm…Ian was such a delightful, generous man. Quiet, but cheeky, with a lovely twinkle in his eye… Watching Ian Holm perform taught me so much – as Ian was being his usual quiet self, that just somehow happened. It was a privilege to work with him, and a blessing to know him… Safe travels, darling Ian.”

Mine would be Luc Besson’s classic sci-fi action epic The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Chris Tucker, and Milla Jovovich.
Rated PG-13 for intense sci-fi violence, some sexuality, and brief nudity, it takes place in the 23rd century, where a New York City cabbie, Korben Dallas (Willis), finds the fate of the world in his hands when Leeloo (Jovovich) falls into his cab. As the embodiment of the fifth element, Leeloo needs to combine with the other four to keep the approaching Great Evil from destroying the world. Together with Father Vito Cornelius (Holm) and zany broadcaster Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker), Dallas must race against time and the wicked industrialist Zorg (Oldman) to save humanity.
It sports a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes with this Critics Consensus: Visually inventive and gleefully over the top, Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element is a fantastic piece of pop sci-fi that never takes itself too seriously.
