TWISTER Reboot in the Works With Director Joseph Kosinski
Universal Pictures is developing a reboot of Twister with Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) in negotiations to direct.
Frank Marshall will produce with Senior VP of production Sara Scott overseeing for Universal. They are currently meeting with writers.

Steven Spielberg exec produced the original film which was directed by Jan De Bont (Speed, The Haunting) and starred Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Westworld) penned the script.
During the approach of the most powerful storm in decades, university professor Dr. Jo Harding (Helen Hunt) and an underfunded team of students prepare the prototype for Dorothy, a ground-breaking tornado data-gathering device conceived by her estranged husband, Bill (Bill Paxton). When Harding tells Bill that Dorothy is ready for testing — and that their privately funded rival Dr. Jonas Miller (Cary Elwes) has stolen the idea and built his own — Bill rejoins the team for one last mission.
Rated PG-13 for intense depiction of very bad weather, the film sports a 57% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: A high-concept blockbuster that emphasizes special effects over three-dimensional characters, Twister’s visceral thrills are often offset by the film’s generic plot.
