Original JAWS Design Team Restoring Quint’s Ship THE ORCA
The original design team from Jaws is working to resurrect the Quint’s ship the Orca for the first time since the original was lost 30 years ago.
The boat build team includes Jaws Production Designer Joe Alves, original ORCA build crew chief Chris Crawford, Ship Right and Welder Eric Rodegast, Ship Builder Greta Gannon, and Shipwright Archie Robertson.
Eventually, restoration and transformation of the Nova Scotia lobster boat will offer free or discounted charter trips for local non-profits, especially providing programs for the children of Martha’s Vineyard camps, helping to lend variety and excitement to their curriculum. Additionally, ORCA III will be used as a vessel for marine research and exploration for BENEATH THE WAVES, a conservationist non-profit. Finally, they plan to offer tours and charters for visitors to Martha’s Vineyard who would like to ride aboard Captain Quint’s famous shark vessel once more.
