Thank the movie gods … or more specifically thank the powers that be at 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott for sticking to their guns when it comes to the release of the highly anticipated Prometheus. Read on for the latest details.

According to The Wrap, 20th Century Fox has decided to let the R rating that it received from the MPAA’s ratings board for “sci-fi violence including some intense images and brief language” stand, rather than make cuts for a PG-13 or lower rating. You know what this calls for, right? It’s time to bust out our trusty Impromptu Rapid Irish Jig of Joy and Mirth™ video!

Prometheus, starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster, will be in theaters on June 8th, 2012.

Synopsis
Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ returns to the genre he helped define. With ‘Prometheus’ he creates a groundbreaking mythology in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
