David Cronenberg’s latest, Cosmopolis, looks to be a return to his older, outre cinematic style. It stars Robert Pattinson, who is working hard at shedding Edward Cullen by undertaking a completely different vapid persona. Check out some nifty promotional pics that feature the actor riffing on a few of the director’s past works.
The French version of Premiere (as translated by Cosmopolis Movie – the dedicated fansite for the film) indicates it was Pattinson’s idea to pay homage to such Cronenbergian classics as Videodrome, Scanners and Dead Ringers. We’ve got some of these below, but be sure to head on over to Cosmopolis Movie for more.
Beyond that, you can also dig on the film’s theatrical poster and trailer below. Cosmopolis is due to hit at some point in 2012 and is based on Don DeLillo’s novel about a young billionaire’s bizarre odyssey across NYC and his encounters with several unsavory characters. Cronenberg adapted DeLillo’s work for the screen. Give me this over the plethora of remakes and sequels any day, Pattinson or not.
