The first four films will debut as double features with each film presenting a distinctive vision and unique perspective on common themes centered around family and love as redemptive or destructive forces.
It kicks off with Veena Sud’s The Lie and Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr.’s Black Box on October 6th. Then Elan Dassani and Rajeev Dassani’s Evil Eye and writer-director Zu Quirke’s Nocturne hit on October 13th.
Here are the details on the films:
The Lie begins when a teenager confesses to killing her best friend and her two desperate parents attempt to cover up the horrific crime, leading to a complicated web of lies and deception. It stars Mireille Enos (The Killing), Peter Sarsgaard (Orphan) and Joey King (The Conjuring).
Evil Eye focuses on a seemingly perfect romance that turns into a nightmare when a mother becomes convinced her daughter’s new boyfriend has a dark connection to her own past. It stars Sarita Choudhury, Sunita Mani, Omar Maskati, and Bernard White.
Black Box centers on a single father who loses his wife and memory in a car accident and undergoes an experimental treatment that causes him to question who he is. It stars Mamoudou Athie, Phylicia Rashad, Amanda Christine, Tosin Morohunfola, Charmaine Bingwa, and Troy James.
Nocturne tells of a timid music student begins to outshine her more accomplished and outgoing twin sister when she discovers a mysterious notebook belonging to a recently deceased classmate in the halls of an elite arts academy. It stars Madison Iseman (Annabelle Comes Home), Sydney Sweeney, Jacques Colimon, and Ivan Shaw.
The second batch of films will launch in 2021.
