PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS Cancelled After One Season
Fresh on the heels of word that Netflix has canceled both The Society and I Am Not Okay With This, due to production complications caused by COVID-19, now we hear that Showtime has officially canceled their Penny Dreadful spin-off Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels after one season.
The network wrote: “Showtime has decided not to move forward with another season of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. We would like to thank executive producers John Logan, Michael Aguilar and the entire cast and crew for their outstanding work on this project.”
The first season’s finale snagged a mere 650k viewers earlier this year.
This new series opens in 1938 Los Angeles; a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension. When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega (Zovatto) is embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of Los Angeles: from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism. Before long, Tiago and his family are grappling with powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart.
