At last year’s Cannes Film Market, director Marcus Nispel’s new film, Backmask, was officially announced. Here we are, a year later and we finally have some casting news for you cats. Read on to see who the next person to be bathed in lens flares will be.

Kirsten Elms penned the script that follows a group of teenagers who accidentally release an evil spirit that starts to possess them one by one. The first teen up for active possession duty? “Teen Wolf”‘s Gage Golightly. Shooting will take place early-June in Rhode Island. Terry Douglas, Paris Kasidokostas Latsis and Steven Schneider produce through 1821 Pictures and Voltage Pictures.

Synopsis
During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message….and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.
