This Day in Horror History: DEADGIRL Premiered at TIFF in 2008
Deadgirl is a horror sleeper; an underseen entry in the zombie/undead subgenre that’s strikingly original and emotionally dreadful. Deadgirl enjoyed its world premiere at TIFF on this day in 2008; it got a limited theatrical release in July 2009.

Synopsis:
Two high school boys discover an imprisoned woman in an abandoned mental asylum who cannot die.
Deadgirl was co-directed by Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel from a screenplay penned by Trent Haaga; the film stars Shiloh Fernandez, Noah Segan, Candice King, and Jenny Spain as the titular “dead girl”.
