The newest offering from Lloyd Kaufman’s Troma Entertainment, Father’s Day, created by filmmaking team Astron 6, will be screening in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on June 15 at the Metro Cinema.

The Father’s Day screening will be held at 9:30 p.m. at the Metro Cinema (located at 8712 – 109th Street, Edmonton) as a part of the continuing DEDFest Film Series. A Q&A session featuring Astron 6 filmmakers Adam Brooks, Steve Kostanski and Matthew Kennedy will follow the screening. Isn’t this a perfect evening for you and your dad? Murder, mayhem, sodomy…what more could dad ask for?

From the Press Release
Attention, all you sickos, perverts, and fans of twisted cinema… DEDfest and Metro Cinema are celebrating this Father’s Day with a special screening of… Father’s Day, the latest film from Winnipeg’s warped grindhouse filmmakers Astron 6 (the team behind festival favorite Manborg). When the elusive “Father’s Day Killer” resurfaces, the sons of three of his victims – strong silent type Ahab (Adam Brooks), street hustler Twink (Conor Sweeney) and priest Father John (Matthew Kennedy) – band together to end this psycho’s reign of terror.

The story behind this insane slice of cinema? The gang at Astron 6 made a fake trailer for a holiday slasher and picked the one holiday that had yet to be gore-ified. That trailer caught the attention of legendary filmmaker and founder of Troma Entertainment Lloyd Kaufman. He gave Astron 6 $10,000 and challenged them to make a full-length version. The result has been taking the festival circuit by storm and cementing Astron 6 as one of the major players in the Canuxploitation resurgence. Father’s Day was awarded the title of Best Film at the prestigious Toronto After Dark Film Festival and was recently featured on the cover of the North American distributed Rue Morgue Magazine.

Don’t miss your chance to see this soon-to-be exploitation classic on the big screen on Friday, June 15, sponsored by the Alberta Media Production Industries Association and the Edmonton Film Commission.
