One of Kevin Smith’s rare forays into horror resulted in one of the most bizarre body horror offerings in cinematic history. I’m talking about Tusk, released on this date in 2014.

If it’s been a while, or if you’ve yet to experience the madcap insanity of Tusk for yourself, give the trailer and synopsis a spin below.
Synopsis:
A U.S. podcaster (Justin Long) ventures into the Canadian wilderness to interview an old man (Michael Parks) who has an extraordinary past, and the American learns the man has a dark secret involving a walrus.
In addition to Long and Parks, Tusk stars Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez, and Johnny Depp.
Trivia:
Quentin Tarantino was offered the role of Guy Lapointe, but turned it down, saying he dug the script and “couldn’t wait to watch Michael Parks let loose his internal Kraken”. Kevin Smith said in an interview that Tarantino thought he was being offered the role of Wallace, not Guy Lapointe, and that’s why he turned it down, which led to Johnny Depp being cast. (Source)
Kevin Smith and Johnny Depp’s daughters Harley Quinn and Lily-Rose play the two unhelpful clerks in the convenient store. Clerks (1994), a movie about unhelpful convenience store clerks, launched Kevin Smith’s career as a director and screenwriter. (Source)
