Jenna Ortega Promises SCREAM 5 “Fits Perfectly” with Wes Craven’s Original Films

Radio Silence’s Scream 5 will start shooting by the end of the month. And today, franchise newcomer Jenna Ortega promises it will honor Wes Craven’s films.

Ortega tells ET: “It’s crazy! It’s weird too because when I first started, I said I always wanted to do horror, so this is a huge dream come true. I don’t even think there are words in the English language to correctly express how happy, excited, and nervous I am for this journey. It’s just so amazing to me. It fits perfectly. Also how incredible that we have the main cast coming back. That is insane to me … throughout the years, the franchise has done really well at calling back and bringing some sort of nostalgic aspects to the script. I’ll definitely say that there are some here.”

She also calls the set “super top secret,” but says she’s “very, very pleased with how the script has been written and [with] everything that’s to come.”

Jenna Ortega joins the killer cast which includes franchise favorites such as Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Marley Shelton, along with series newcomers such as Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, and Mikey Madison.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not) direct from a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) and Guy Busick (Castle Rock). Kevin Williamson and Chad Villella, are executive producing with Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak producing. Casting is underway on the flick which shoots in North Carolina this fall.
