On July 11th the 100th issue of Robert Kirkman’s zombie opus The Walking Dead is being released, and finally all 12 covers have been revealed. One is going to be pretty hard to get ahold of, however; read on for the details.
In the below gallery you’ll find a look at the covers, 11 of them courtesy of TFAW (click the link for pre-order info). As for that elusive 12th cover (the final picture you’ll see in the gallery), EW provided the following details: The twelfth variant cover will only be available to fans who buy tickets for the zombie-filled The Walking Dead Escape obstacle course event, which is taking place at San Diego’s Petco Park on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Comic-Con weekend. The good news is that Kirkman’s Skybound imprint is giving away the comic for free to “Survivors,” “Walkers,” and spectators. The artist responsible for the image is Matthew Roberts.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Matt Roberts since the very earliest days of my career,” Kirkman said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more thrilled that he’s coming back to comics to work with Skybound, and I can’t think of a better way of reintroducing him to the world of comics than with this cover, commemorating The Walking Dead Escape and our monumental Issue #100.”
Also note that the first photo is the SDCC 2012 Retailer Exclusive Edition with a date of July 25th.
About The Walking Dead
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple of months ago he was a small-town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.
