Netflix’s SANDMAN Wants Dacre Montgomery & One of Them Hemsworth Boys?
Netflix’s live-action The Sandman series may have snagged its lead with Tom Sturridge as Dream. But today we’re also hearing that the streaming giant is looking at Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery and The Hunger Games hunk Liam Hemsworth for roles in the new Neil Gaiman adaptation.
The two are evidently up for the role of Corinthian, who will be the main antagonist for at least the first season.
The Corinthian is a nightmare created by Dream, who destroys him in the same collection for going rogue and failing to fulfill his original design. Dream later recreates him with “some changes”, though the exact nature of these changes is not explicit. His most notable physical feature is his lack of eyes: in their place, two rows of small, jagged teeth line each eye socket, which he often covers with sunglasses. He can speak, eat, see, and even respire through these mouths.
Gaiman is executive producing the 11-episode series with David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Blade) and writer/showrunner Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman, Scandal).
The Sandman is a story about stories and how Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, is captured and subsequently learns that sometimes change is inevitable. Morpheus is one of the seven Endless. The others are Destiny, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium /Delight, and Destruction / The Prodigal. The original comic series ran for 75 issues from January 1989 to March 1996. Its artists include Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Shawn McManus, Marc Hempel, and Michael Zulli, with lettering by Todd Klein and covers by Dave McKean.
