Exclusive: Cranked Up Films Releasing Subversive Cop Horror-Comedy SURVIVAL SKILLS December 4

Cranked Up Films, Good Deed Entertainment’s genre label, has announced the acquisition of dark comedy Survival Skills. The independent studio will release the film, starring Stacy Keach (Man With a Plan), Vayu O’Donnell (9-1-1), Spencer Garrett (Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood), Erica Kreutz (Dead to Me), Tyra Colar (Guiding Light) and Emily Chisholm on demand and digital, December 4th with a limited theatrical planned ahead of its digital street date.

Give the trailer a spin and read more about the film below.

Synopsis:
Survival Skills is a biting police training video from the 1980s expertly narrated (Keach) like so many of the educational videos we remember fondly from a most radical decade. Lost for years and only now recovered, we meet Jim (O’Donnell), the perfect policeman in a perfect relationship in a perfect community, who gets in over his head when he tries to resolve a domestic violence case. Before long, the ugly underbelly of the ‘Good Guys in Blue’ begins to expose itself and Jim decides to take matters into his own hands.

“This film stems from my years of work in domestic violence, filtered through a darkly comic lens and a full-throated attack on modern American policing,” stated Writer/Director Quinn Armstrong. “With incredible work from the legendary Stacy Keach and Broadway vet Vayu O’Donnell, Survival Skills may make you laugh, it may make you cry, but I guarantee it will surprise you.”

Good Deed Entertainment/Cranked Up CEO and Founder, Scott Donley concurred, “Survival Skills drew us in with a great premiere at Fantasia Fest and it could not be more timely. We love to partner with filmmakers like Quinn who do not shy away from poignant stories and bold choices.”

In addition to Fantasia, Survival Skills played to audiences at Cinequest, the Rhode Island International Film Festival (Best Lead Actor, Vayu O’Donnell), Horrible Imaginings (Best Screenplay, Best Production Design), Indie Street Film Festival (Special Jury Narrative Prize), Raindance, Philadelphia Film Festival and more.

Michael Orion Downing (The Last Whistle) and Colin West (Here & Beyond) produced Survival Skills, written and directed by Quinn Armstrong; Allie Schultz served as the Director of Photography. Good Deed Entertainment’s Manager of Distribution and Acquisitions, Robbie Chernow, negotiated the deal for North American rights with Glenn Reynolds of Circus Road on behalf of the filmmakers.
