Jessica Rothe Reveals Awesome Alternate HAPPY DEATH DAY 3 Title

Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U director Christopher Landon wants to return for Happy Death Day 3. And Blumhouse founder Jason Blum pretty much vows to finish the trilogy. But what does series star Jessica Rothe think?

Rothe tells THR: “It feels very important to both Chris and I that if we do have the opportunity to make a third film and finish the trilogy and finish Tree’s story, we want to do it right. I feel so much love and so much deep protection over her as a character, her as a final girl and her as a role model for young women and people of all ages. So I would never want us to sacrifice her story and her journey just to make it something smaller than it deserves to be. Making any kind of follow-up film is always really tricky since you want to make sure it lands the right tone and in the right place. So I’ll be interested to see if we’re lucky enough to find that right place and find the right way to conclude that story. Chris Landon’s brain works in so many brilliant and unpredictable ways, and so I’m sure that title knocked around in his brain for a while. But I would follow him to the ends of the Earth, whether it’s on a Happy Death Day Tree, Happy Death Day to Us or a different project.”

Happy Death Day Tree… nice. Even better? Happy Death Day Tree-Fiddy.

Happy Death Day centered on a blissfully self-centered collegian who wakes up on her birthday with the eerie feeling that she’s experienced the events of this day before. When a masked killer suddenly takes her life in a brutal attack, she magically wakes up unharmed. Now, the frightened young woman must relive the same day over and over until she figures out who murdered her.

Happy Death Day 2U then found our heroine waking up in horror to learn that she’s stuck in a parallel universe. Her boyfriend, her friends and fellow students seem to be completely different versions of themselves. When Tree discovers that Carter’s roommate has been altering time, she finds herself once again the target of a masked killer. When the psychopath starts to go after her inner circle, Tree soon realizes that she must die over and over again to save everyone.
