Just What the Doctor Ordered: A New Love Interest for Sam in Supernatural Season 8

Now that we know “Supernatural” will be returning on Wednesday, October 3rd, a few Season 8 plot details are starting to come our way. It looks like poor beleaguered Sam Winchester is finally catching a break… and a new girlfriend!

ZAP2it has learned that casting is currently under way for “Amelia”, a recurring love interest for Jared Padalecki’s character, his first since Ruby died in Season 4. Amelia is a doctor in her late 20s to early 30s, and when we first meet her, she’s overwhelmed by a devastating tragedy. She’ll appear in the third episode of the season — directed by Jensen Ackles — and she’ll initially be very wary of Sam. She’s described as “a brave, sweet, smart, sarcastic woman.”

As for that third episode, which will see Sam investigating grisly murders that seem to be related to the occult, Ackles is currently up in Vancouver getting ready to shoot it. Appropriately enough, the case also involves a stripper.

We’re pretty sure a few more details about the upcoming season, which is being helmed by new showrunner Jeremy Carver, will be revealed at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con (the “Supernatural” panel is on Sunday, July 15th), so look for more soon!
