Director Albert Pyun always has a lot of irons in the fire, but beginning July 16th he’ll be focusing strictly on one of them: Cyborg Nemesis, which replaces the previously announced Cyborgs: Rise of the Slingers and is drawn from the world of Cyborg and the action of Nemesis.
The shoot is taking place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, about which Pyun said, “You might wonder why we selected Argentina as the shoot location for CYBORG NEMESIS. Well, first of all, I love the crews there. People there really love cinema. Second, it’s in the Southern Hemisphere, which will be in their winter (nuclear of course). Finally, there are locations there that are amazing and that are harder to find in LA and Las Vegas. So those are the reasons we choose Argentina – crews, weather, locations.”
As for the cast, Pyun stated, “We are far into discussions with Ving Rhames, Kevin Sorbo, Dina Meyer, Natassia Malthe, Cris Cyborg, Michael Pare, Sasha Mitchell and Australian newcomer Kassandra Clementi. I have a wonderful producer (Cynthia Curnan) who’s written a great script. I have a great DP partner in Michael Su, a great editor in Daniel Ray Gutierrez. This is going to be a wild sci-war film. Possibly in 3D!” Wrekin Hill/Lionsgate has acquired North American rights to the film.
Synopsis:
The Future…dark…dangerous…and more than human.
A US Marine special ops team awakens from a hypersleep in a locked-down underground laboratory complex with no memory of who they are and why they are there. They realize that something’s wrong since they’re all alone – the complex is abandoned. The team is forced to learn who put them to sleep ten years earlier and why – as they discover a creature has infiltrated the complex.
