Neil Gaiman Confirms Netflix’s THE SANDMAN Series Has Begun Filming
Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman has finally started shooting. Giaman himself passed alogn this news over on Twitter, writing:
“Oh, we started shooting on Thursday. Dr. John Hathaway has brought a book from the museum in which he works to Roderick Burgess. But you’re right, it’s going to be time to announce some casting soon.”
The series may have snagged its leads with Tom Sturridge as Dream and Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery or The Hunger Games hunk Liam Hemsworth up for the role of Corinthian, who will be the main antagonist for the first season.
Gaiman is executive producing the 11-episode series with David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Blade) and writer/showrunner Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman, Scandal).
The Sandman is a story about stories and how Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, is captured and learns that change is inevitable. Morpheus is one of the seven Endless with Destiny, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium /Delight, and Destruction / The Prodigal. The comic series ran 75 issues from 1989-1996. Its artists include Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Shawn McManus, Marc Hempel, and Michael Zulli, with lettering by Todd Klein and covers by Dave McKean.
