Night Shymalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant), Ronit Kirchman (Amazon Studios/Blumhouse Television’s Evil Eye), and Nima Fakhrara (Jonathan Milott & Cary Murnion’s Becky). The event will be moderated by Dread’s Jerry Smith.

About the Panelists

Colin Stetson, Hereditary

Colin Stetson was born and raised in Ann Arbor, spent a decade in San Francisco and Brooklyn honing his formidable talents as a horn player, eventually settling in Montreal in 2007. Over the years he has worked extensively, live and in studio, with a wide range of bands and musicians including Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, TV On the Radio, Feist, Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Bill Laswell, Evan Parker, The Chemical Brothers, Animal Collective, Hamid Drake, LCD Soundsystem, The National, Angelique Kidjo, Fink, and David Gilmore. Meanwhile, he has developed an utterly unique voice as a soloist, principally on saxophones and clarinets, his intense technical prowess matched by his exhilarating and emotionally gripping skills as a songwriter. Stetson’s astounding physical engagement with his instruments (chiefly bass and alto saxophones) produces emotionally rich and polyphonic compositions that transcend expectations of what solo horn playing can sound like.  Stemming from that approach and aesthetic, he has been contributing regularly to the world of film, TV, and game scoring over the past decade with such titles as Hereditary, The First, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Color Out of Space.

Trevor Gureckis, Servant

Trevor Gureckis is an award-winning composer and producer based in NYC. His work spans film, pop and concert music genres. His music often draws on his classical and production background, fusing electronics and live instruments in unique ways. Trevor scored the Apple TV+ series produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan entitled Servant. The Hollywood Reporter noted, the series is “propelled by a score that goes between lullaby simplicity and experimental cacophony.” The soundtrack was released on Lakeshore Records with the second season in production. He composed the main title theme to Amazon’s new series Hunters, created by David Weil and produced by Jordan Peele. Most recently, he composed score for the BBC World Service podcast The Bomb, which is airing now. He recently completed scoring of Neil Burger’s latest film, Voyagers, which will be released by Lionsgate in early 2021. Trevor composed the music for the Warner Brothers and Amazon Studios film adaptation of The Goldfinch, directed by John Crowley. The score was critically acclaimed; described as “exceptionally fresh and disarmingly different” by The Hollywood Reporter and “stunning” by Paste Magazine. Other notable works include; Blumhouse’s Bloodline and HBO’s Vice: Raised in the System. Trevor produced the electro-pop band My Great Ghost, which is featured on the Philip Glass remix album Rework_spearheaded by Beck. In April 2019, Trevor’s solo album of instrumental and electronic music entitled Corte was released on Supertrain Records. He is a co-owner and ECD of Found Objects, an NYC based artist collective.

Ronit Kirchman, Evil Eye

Ronit Kirchman is a composer expanding the frontiers of film and television music. Recognized in the press as “an extremely original voice” with “a virtuoso touch”, and “a truly unique force in the entertainment industry”, Ronit is probably best known for her innovative, genre-bending score for The Sinner – the acclaimed Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated anthology series executive produced by Jessica Biel – which enters its fourth season in 2021. Other recent projects include Evil Eyea new dramatic thriller/horror feature from Amazon Studios and Blumhouse Television; the episodic series Limetown (based on the hit podcast); and a wide-ranging trail of films and documentaries. Ronit’s score albums for The Sinner: Season 1 and Limetown are available from Lakeshore Records. The recipient of multiple awards from the Sundance Institute and BMI, Ronit is also a prolific songwriter, music producer, conductor, violinist, multi-instrumentalist, and singer, and continues to compose original scores for the theater, dance, multimedia installations, and the concert stage.

Nima Fakhrara, Becky

Multi-hyphened Iranian-born, Nima Fakhrara is the founder of Zoo Creatives, with studios in Los Angeles and New York City. His credits include the Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion’s Becky, Sony PlayStation’s Detroit Become Human, John Stalberg Jr’s Crypto, Toronto Film Festival Official Selection, The Girl in the Photographs (the final film executive produced by Wes Craven), the Los Angeles Film Festival selection Consumed (directed by Daryl Wein), the Sundance Film Festival selection The SignalGatchaman (directed by Toya Sato and starring Tori Matsuzaka and Ryohei Suzuki), a live-action take on the anime series Battle of the PlanetsThe Pyramid (directed by Gregory Levveseur, produced by Alexander Aja), and Exists (directed by Eduardo Sanchez).
