Jake Gyllenhaal & PRISONERS Director Denis Villeneuve Reteam On HBO Limited Series THE SON
Dune director Denis Villeneuve will reteam with Prisoners star Jake Gyllenhaal on HBO’s upcoming limited series adaptation of the Jo Nesbo novel The Son.
Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (Westworld) will serve as showrunners with Lenore Zion (Netflix’s Brand New Cherry Flavor, Billions) who will write the series described as a tale of vengeance set amid Oslo’s brutal hierarchy of corruption.
Based on the bestselling novel, the story follows an escaped convict: an opioid addict who can’t recall his past, on the run from the law toward an unknown truth.
Gyllenhaal and Villeneuve exec produced the series with Nolan, Joy, Zion, Athena Wickham, David Litvak, Gary Michael Walters, Michel Litvak, and Svetlana Metkina, Jo Nesbø, and Niclas Salomonsson. Gyllenhaal produces with Riva Marker.
