George Hardy & Greg Sestero Star In Gross-Out Horror Comedy CYST Premiering At FrightFest This Weekend
If you’re in the mood for something truly disgusting at this year’s FrightFest, you might be interested in the gross-out new horror comedy Cyst, which will be premiering at the festival. As its name suggests, the film features an ungodly number of scenes depicting giant cysts being sliced open, with fake pus spraying in every direction.
Cyst also features a cast of established cult film actors, including George Hardy, who played the lead role in Troll 2 before becoming a dentist, and Greg Sestero, who played Mark in Tommy Wiseau’s The Room. Sestero also wrote a book called The Disaster Artist about his experience of working on The Room, which was adapted into the 2017 film of the same name, where Sestero was played by Dave Franco. So with actors from two of the most popular ‘so bad they’re good’ movies of all time appearing, it sounds like Cyst will definitely appeal to fans of cult cinema.
Hardy stars in Cyst as a mad physician name Dr. Guy, who desperately wants to make a fortune from his new invention, a laser called the Get Gone which presumably zaps pimples and boils out of existence. Unfortunately for Dr. Guy, his invention ultimately causes one of his patient’s cysts to transform into a giant practical FX monster which terrorises anyone visiting the clinic. The 1960s period piece was directed by Tyler Russell, who wrote the screenplay alongside Andy Silverman, and it stars Eva Habermann, Francesca Santoro, Jason Douglas, and Darren Ewing.
We were also provided with some images from Cyst, which you can view along with the poster in the gallery below. The film will premiere on Saturday, October 24 at the digital FrightFest event, and you can purchase your ticket here. Just be sure to bring along a sick bag.
