Bruce Campbell Reveals EVIL DEAD RISE Will Ditch Mia For New Female Lead
The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II star Bruce Campbell is producing The Hole in the Ground director Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise. And today, Campbell revealed to al.com that the film will ditch Evil Dead‘s Mia (Jane Levy) for a new female lead.
“We’re going to have a heroine, a woman in charge, and she’s going to try and save her family…We’re honing-in, circling the building now trying to lock in a partner. We have a couple of bidders and we’re trying to just find the correct suitor...”
He continues: “Look, this is another ‘Evil Dead’ movie and that book gets around, a lot of people run into it and it’s another story.” The main key with Evil Dead is they’re just regular people who are battling what seems to be a very unstoppable evil, and so that’s where the horror comes from. It’s not someone who’s skilled. They’re not fighting a soldier. They’re not fighting a scientist. They’re not fighting anybody more than your average neighbor. This one is going to be a similar thing.“
Evil Dead (2013) followed Mia (Jane Levy), a drug addict determined to kick the habit who she asks her brother and his friends to accompany her to their family’s remote forest cabin to help her through withdrawal. But when they find the mysterious Book of the Dead and reads aloud from it, awakening an ancient demon, all hell breaks loose and the malevolent entity possesses Mia.
Damn. I don’t know about you but I was 100% hoping to see Jane Levy’s Mia and Ash team up in a sequel. Weak. What do you think? Make sure to hit us up and let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
