Doug Jones Teases Guillermo del Toro’s HELLBOY 3 Still Possible

Doug Jones (Hocus Pocus) played Abe Sapien in Guillermo del Toro’s first two Hellboy movies with Ron Perlman. Obviously, he sat out David Harbour’s reboot. But today, Jones says he thinks Hellboy 3 might not be as impossible as it seems.

He tells ComicBook.com: “That’s a great question. I think we all felt that that ship had sailed with the reboot. But then you’re right, with the reboot not being as they’d hoped. Does that mean you circle back around and try to pick up the story and continue with a Hellboy 3 from our storyline? I don’t know. That’s way above my pay grade to even guess at those answers. But let me say this. If they were to do such a thing, and I was offered that, and I was free to do so, hell yes. I would be involved.”

Bring it on, I say!

The last time we saw Jones play Sapien on the big screen was in Del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army which found Hellboy, Liz, and Abe Sapien facing their biggest battle when an underworld prince plans to reclaim Earth for his magical kindred. Tired of living in the shadow of humans, Prince Nuada tries to awaken an ancient army of killing machines to clear the way for fantasy creatures to roam free. Only Hellboy can stop the dark prince and prevent humanity’s annihilation.

The film sports an 86% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Guillermo del Toro crafts a stellar comic book sequel, boasting visuals that are as imaginative as the characters are endearing.
