Here we are chilling at Comic-Con when who walks into our crossfire? The RZA and Dave Bautista! Sit back and read on for what we can expect from their new flick, The Man With the Iron Fists, when it cuts its way into theatres.

“This movie is an homage to all of the great Shaw Brothers movies that have come out over the years, and we really wanted to honor them,” says the RZA. “This movie is gonna be like the Kung Fu Avengers. I play the Blacksmith, we got Dave here playing the Brass Body, Russell Crowe playing Jack Knife, Lucy Lui playing Lady Silk. It’s a fantasy, man; it really is a superhero flick in every way.”

“In the movie I play a character named the Brass Body, and even though that’s descriptive, the name definitely doesn’t say it all,” says former WWE star Bautista. “Deep down inside he’s basically a good guy, but let’s just say he’s made A LOT of bad choices in his life. He doesn’t really understand the difference between right and wrong.”

RZA jumps in, “When I was casting for this particular character, I met Dave through some mutual friends and thought, ‘Wow. This guy is a great candidate for the Brass Body.’ We also have a lot of real martial artists in this film like Cung Le, who’s just amazing in the movie.”

“Watching the RZA direct was pretty impressive,” says Bautista of his co-star and director. “He’d give direction, run in film the scene, run out watch the monitors, run back out give more direction, and so on. I don’t think he ever slept.”

“We all have that love for something inside us,” says RZA. “When you get a chance to put that energy on the page, and then onto the screen, it’s amazing. Every bit of blood and sweat is up there for people to see. It was all worth it. Comic-Con is the perfect place to come and talk about this movie. The Man with the Iron Fists easily could have been a graphic novel. This is a collage of art and music coming together. This event has fans coming over from everywhere to share what they love.”

“If you take all of the martial arts out of this movie, it’s like a Star Wars movie. It exists in its own world,” the RZA continues. “There’s really something for everyone, from old school Kung Fu movie fans to just plain movie fans. We’re extremely proud of it.”

The flick, directed by RZA, stars Russell Crowe, Pam Grier, Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Dave Bautista, and RZA. Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth are producing.
