RIP: NIGHT OF THE CREEPS & WATERWORLD Producer Charles Gordon

Producer Charles Gordon died of cancer on Halloween. He was 73 years old. Best known around these parts as the man behind Fred Dekker’s cult classic horror-comedy Night of the Creeps, Gordon also produced Die Hard 2, Waterworld, The Rocketeer, Unlawful Entry, Field of Dreams, K-9, Hitman, Hitman: Agent 47, and The Girl Next Door. He also served as executive producer on Die Hard and Leviathan.

Gordon began his career as a film agent, screenwriter, and television producer. He then became a film producer working with his elder brother Lawrence Gordon.

Gordon’s brother Lawrence Gordon said: “He was a wonderful man, a great father a great husband and a great human being. He was my closest friend, and we collaborated on films that included Field Of Dreams and Die Hard in particular. He also produced without me October Sky, which was just a wonderful movie. Though he was 11 years younger than me, my baby brother, in real life he was more like a big brother, and I never made an important family decision without his input.”

Gordon was married to the casting director Lynda Gordon and had three daughters Jamie, Lily, and producer Kate Gordon. He received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture for Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, and Ray Liotta.
