The 2012 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) runs September 6-16, and its first batch of films has been announced. Just a couple of genre flicks made the cut, but we still have the Canadian, Midnight Madness, City to City, and other lineups to hear from so keep the faith!
The opening night film is Rian Johnson’s Looper, and the only true horror entry we could detect is Neil Jordan’s Byzantium. But that’s not to say there isn’t something for everyone. Check out the official Toronto International Film Festival website for the full list of over 60 films revealed so far, including new works from Ben Affleck, Deepa Mehta, Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski, David O. Russell, Joe Wright, Ramin Bahrani, Mira Nair, Robert Redford, Cate Shortland, Francois Ozon, Joss Whedon, Derek Cianfrance, Noah Baumbach, Sally Potter, and Terrence Malick.
Looper (USA)
A mob hitman (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is assigned to kill his own future self (Bruce Willis) in this mind-bending futuristic thriller.
Byzantium (USA)
A pair of female vampires (Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton) wreak havoc on an unsuspecting English seaside community in this deliciously depraved supernatural drama from Academy Award® winner Neil Jordan.
