During the Total Recall press day on July 27, we had the opportunity to chat with several of the film’s stars, including Jessica Biel, who is returning to the genre world with her portrayal of iconic actress Vera Miles in Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock biopic, currently in post-production.
Biel is no stranger to horror with performances in flicks like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot, Blade: Trinity and the upcoming thriller The Tall Man. During our interview we chatted briefly with the actress about her role in Hitchcock and her experiences stepping into the shoes of Miles for the project.
“It was pretty incredible,” said Biel of her experiences. “It was a cast of dreams, and Sacha, our director, was amazing to work with. I’m a huge Hitchcock fan and such a fan of that time period in general; I did not know anything about Vera Miles and her relationship with Hitchcock before doing this project or before I started doing my own research.”
“I do feel like I really learned a lot while making this movie, and now I feel like I know possibly everything I could about this particular time period in Hitchcock’s life and in Vera’s life as well. She was an amazing and interesting woman, and it was just a dream project. That’s the kind of role that you think about as a little girl, and now you feel like, ‘Am I really getting to play in a period piece film about a great filmmaker like this, along with Anthony Hopkins? This is too cool!’ I am very excited to see how it all turns out.”
