This Day in Horror History: Happy Birthday, GARRET DILLAHUNT
On this day in horror history, Garret Dillahunt was born in 1964. Dillahunt is best known around here for his role in FX’s spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead.
Not to mention his roles in classics films. Such as The Cohen Brothers’ adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s No Country for Old Men with Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin. And Dennis Iliadis’ remake of Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left.
Other than those killer roles, Garret Dillahunt is best known for his TV roles. Like Simon Escher on Burn Notice and Ty Walker in the sixth season of Justified.
He also played Jack McCall and Francis Wolcott in Deadwood, and Matthew Ross in The 4400. Not to mention a terminator in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Steve Curtis in ER, and Dr. Jody Kimball-Kinney on The Mindy Project.
He snagged a nomination for the Critics’ Choice TV Award for Best Actor for his role in Raising Hope. Dillahunt has played supporting roles in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Winter’s Bone. Also Looper, and 12 Years a Slave. He also starred in Amazon’s Hand of God.
Dillahunt hits the screen next in Watchmen and 300 director Zack Snyder’s upcoming balls-to-the-wall Netflix zombie heist motion picture Army of the Dead.
My favorite role of his would probably be The Last House on the Left. In the film, he played Krug, an escaped convict who kidnaps two teenage girls and leaves them for dead. But when one girl survives, her parents (Tony Goldwyn and Monica Potter) make the strangers rue the day they harmed her.
What’s your favorite Garret Dillahunt performance?
