THE WALKING DEAD: Final Season Will Be Hacked Into Three Parts?
The Walking Dead: World Beyond just wrapped up its first season. And AMC’s flagship series The Walking Dead is is set to conclude with the upcoming extended, 24-episode 11th season. Now, The Walking Dead universe CCO Scott Gimple, reveals the final season may be split into three, eight-episode chunks.
He tells Insider: “I’m pretty, fairly sure it’s an ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C.’ I’m not 100% sure. So I think, even if I were to give you an answer on that now, it very well could change… I will say that eight-episode blocks are kind of our sweet spot. I think it’s a good bet, but I don’t want to totally embarrass myself when a different decision is made.”
While this just seems like another way for AMC to keep milking The Walking Dead, Gimple’s comments make sense. Especially considering the show tends to take a break after eight episodes each season. Either way, Season 10 is currently filming for a February 2021 release. And Gimple says season 11 will begin filming early next year, which means the first 8-episode chunk could hit in late 2021.

But as we all know, the series won’t stop there. A Daryl & Carol spin-off is planned for a 2023 release, as well as an anthology series, Tales of the Walking Dead.
Meanwhile, The Walking Dead’s extended 10th season of six new episodes will premiere Sunday, February 28 at 9 pm ET/8c. New guest stars include Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill), and Okea Eme-Akwari (Cobra Kai) among others.
In the six new The Walking Dead episodes, we find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides. As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?
Are you glad The Walking Dead is finally ending?
