THE WALKING DEAD: All 10 Seasons Ranked Worst to Best

Last night, the little woman and I started rewatching The Walking Dead. It was her idea. Not mine. Truth be told, I stopped watching the show after season two.

All the same, I got to pick the last show we watched (Fargo) and so I’m up for revisiting the zombie series. I guess. I mean we managed to binge the whole (six-episode) first season last night. Maybe it’ll go down smoother this time. I hope so.

But how do the rest of the seasons stack up – according to Rotten Tomatoes?

Let’s find out!

10. Season 8 (64%)

Critics Consensus: The Walking Dead’s eighth season energizes its characters with some much-needed angst and action. But it’s still occasionally choppy and lacking forward-moving plot progression.

09. Season 7 (66%)

Critics Consensus: Increased character depth and effective world-building helps The Walking Dead overcome a tiresome reliance on excessive, gratuitous violence.

08. Season 6 (76%)

Critics Consensus: Six seasons in, The Walking Dead is still finding ways to top itself, despite slow patches that do little to advance the plot.

07. Season 2 (80%)

Critics Consensus: The second season of The Walking Dead fleshes out the characters while maintaining the grueling tension and gore that made it a hit.

06. Season 4 (83%)

Critics Consensus: Consistently thrilling, with solid character development and enough gore to please grindhouse fans, this season of The Walking Dead continues to demonstrate why it’s one of the best horror shows on television.

05. Season 1 (87%)

Critics Consensus: Blood-spattered, emotionally resonant, and white-knuckle intense, The Walking Dead puts an intelligent spin on the zombie subgenre.

04. Season 3 (88%)

Critics Consensus: The palpable terror and visceral thrills continue in the third season along with a deeper sense of the people in its apocalyptic landscape.

03. Season 5 (90%)

Critics Consensus: Thanks to a liberal dose of propulsive, bloody action and enough compelling character moments to reward longtime fans, the show’s fifth season continues to deliver top-notch entertainment.

02. Season 9 (91%)

Critics Consensus: Nine seasons in, the show feels more alive than ever, heightened tension and a refreshed pace that rejuvenates this long-running show.

01. Season 10 (91%)

Critics Consensus: A few changes in front of and behind the camera allow space for compelling new stories and some seriously scary new adversaries.
