Katie Aselton (Black Rock) co-stars in the mind-bending sci-fi horror movie. Ally Ioannides also joins her along with Ramiz Monsef, and Bill Oberst Jr.
Benson penned the script, which follows New Orleans paramedics and longtime best friends Steve (Anthony Mackie) and Dennis (Jamie Dornan). They are called to a series of bizarre, gruesome accidents, and chalk it up to the mysterious new party drug found at the scene. And Steve stumbles upon a terrifying truth about the supposed psychedelic. A secret that will challenge everything he knows about reality and the flow of time itself.
On top of writing and directing, Benson and Moorhead also produced along with David Lawson Jr. and Michael Mendelsohn (USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage).
The film sports an 81% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Synchronic sets off on an intriguingly idiosyncratic sci-fi journey that should satisfy fans of Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson’s earlier work.
It had its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. The MPAA slapped also the film with an R-rating for drug content and language throughout, and for some violent/bloody images. Pre-order HERE.
