DEXTER Revival Shoots Next Month With John Cusack As The Villain?
Michael C. Hall will return next year as everyone’s favorite serial killer in Showtime’s limited series Dexter revival. And today we hear (a rumor) the new season will shoot next month – and John Cusack will play the bad guy, Kurt!
According to The Illuminerdi: “Kurt will be a major player and will have a series-long arc… Kurt was born in a Northeast American town, where our story seems to take place, and eventually became a trucker. After trucking for many years, he came to own the local truck stop in town and established himself as a beloved leader in the community. This handsome, commanding man, a true man of the people, pulled himself up by the bootstraps and realized the American dream.”
Additionally, they report: “His son, Matthew has created many “messes” over the years, messes that are cleaned up by Kurt with the wealth he has amassed throughout his lifetime.” I think we can all assume what that means…
Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption, Howard The Duck) passed on the part.

Marcos Siega will helm six of the revival’s ten episodes. He will also executive produce with Hall. John Goldwyn will too with Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, Scott Reynolds. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first four seasons, returns as well.
Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. said in a statement: “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”
Production begins next month with a premiere set for fall 2021.
