GODZILLA VS. KONG and DUNE Might Be Blocked from HBO Max

Warner Bros. recently revealed that tons of movies will be heading to HBO Max on the same day they are released in theaters. Now, Legendary has stepped in to stop this with two of the announcement’s biggest titles: Godzilla vs. Kong and Dune.

Legendary co-financed the movies with WarnerMedia so they have a pretty big say in what should happen with the films. 75% it seems. But you can read (a lot) more about all the details over on Deadline. We’ll keep you updated on the broad strokes.

Stay tuned.

Godzilla Vs. Kong finds the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain. They unearth clues to the Titans’ origins. A human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures from the face of the earth forever.

Meanwhile, Dune finds Duke Leto Atreides acceptting stewardship of the dangerous desert planet Arrakis. Also known as Dune. The only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, the spice. It’s a drug that extends life, provides superhuman thoughts, and makes space travel possible. Leto knows the opportunity is an intricate trap. But he takes his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, young son and heir Paul, and most trusted advisers to Arrakis. Leto takes control of the spice mining operation. A bitter betrayal leads Paul and Jessica to the Fremen, natives of Arrakis who live in the deep desert.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be unleashed on May 21, 2021. Then the epic adaptation of Dune follows on October 1, 2021. Maybe on HBO Max. Maybe not. We’ll see.
