The folks a Screen Junkies have amassed legions of followers for their snarky yet spot-on assessments of today’s biggest genre offerings in the form of “Honest Trailers”. The irony of “Honest Trailers” is that they arrive too late to give us a truly objective look at the films we spend our hard-earned dollars on… but it’s all in good fun.

There latest subject is the cult horror/sci-fi flick Donnie Darko. As you can imagine, there’s plenty to unpack with this one! Donnie Darko was released in 2001; the film is written and directed by Richard Kelly and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, and Mary McDonnell.
Synopsis:
During the presidential election of 1988, a teenager named Donnie Darko sleepwalks out of his house one night and sees a giant, demonic-looking rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days. When Donnie returns home, he finds that a jet engine has crashed into his bedroom. Is Donnie living in a parallel universe, is he suffering from mental illness – or will the world really end?
