THE WALKING DEAD Will Bring Back One of Its Greatest Villains

During the recent The Walking Dead Holiday Special, TWD Universe producer Scott Gimple revealed something pretty cool. He teased that “one of the great Walking Dead villains of all time” be returning! But… he didn’t say, you know, which one.

Specifically, Gimple said: “We’re working on something with one of the great Walking Dead villains of all time, and it’s coming together.”

Here’s what we think. Woodbury leader The Governor (David Morrissey) will return in an episode of the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead.

After all, the new series is said to bring back dead characters in all-new stories. And considering Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga’s The Governor novels, we think he’s the best fit for what Gimple is teasing. For the record, the novels include The Rise of the Governor, The Road to Woodbury, and The Fall of the Governor.

Meanwhile, The Walking Dead’s extended 10th season of six new episodes will premiere Sunday, February 28 at 9 pm ET/8c. New guest stars include Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill), and Okea Eme-Akwari (Cobra Kai) among others.

In the six new The Walking Dead episodes, we find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides. As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?
