Reminder: “Dissecting Horror” Virtual Panel Series Continues TODAY @ 6 PM (PST) with the Creatives of HUNTER HUNTER
The next installment of our “Dissecting Horror” virtual series will take place TONIGHT (Wednesday, December 16th) at 6 pm PST and be with the creative talent from IFC Midnight’s upcoming film Hunter Hunter.
Panelists include writer/director Shawn Linden, composer Kevon Cronin, cinematographer Greg Nicod and the film’s star Camille Sullivan. I’ll be moderating.
Hunter Hunter will be released in select theaters, drive-ins, and On Demand December 18th, 2020. The film’s cast includes Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Idle Hands), Nick Stahl (Bully, Disturbing Behavior), Camille Sullivan (The Man in the High Castle), and Summer Howell (Curse of Chucky).
Hunter Hunter follows a family living in the remote wilderness earning a living as fur trappers. Joseph Mersault (Devon Sawa), his wife Anne (Camille Sullivan), and their daughter Renée (Summer H. Howell) struggle to make ends meet and think their traps are being hunted by the return of a rogue wolf. Determined to catch the predator in the act, Joseph leaves his family behind to track the wolf. Anne and Renée grow increasingly anxious during Joseph’s prolonged absence and struggle to survive without him.
When they hear a strange noise outside their cabin, Anne hopes it is Joseph but instead finds a man named Lou (Nick Stahl), who has been severely injured and left for dead. The longer Lou stays and Joseph is away, the more paranoid Anne becomes, and the idea of a mysterious predator in the woods slowly becomes a threat much closer to home.
“Dissecting Horror” will be streamed on Dread Central’s Facebook Page and Twitch Channel. The panel will also be made available on our official YouTube channel.
Dread Central and Jordan von Netzer of Projection PR launched “Dissecting Horror” April 15th with a panel focused on horror film scores. Since then, they have produced panels spotlighting stunt coordinators, visual/special effects and the creatives behind Followed, Cruiser, 12 Hour Shift, Don’t Look Back, and Parallel.
ABOUT THE PANELISTS:
Shawn Linden (Writer/Director)
Shawn Linden is a writer, director and producer. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His first feature film, the self-financed Nobody, (starring Costas Mandylor and Ed O’Ross) screened at over fifty film festivals worldwide, winning over a dozen awards. In 2012, Shawn completed his second feature as writer/director/producer: A Good Lie (starring Thomas Dekker and Matt Craven) premiered at the 2012 Busan International Film Festival. His latest project is Hunter Hunter starring Devon Sawa and Nick Stahl. It is scheduled for release December 18th.
Along with his feature work, Shawn has also written and directed for the true-crime television series In Plain Sight (2018). His other television writing works include the SyFy network’s Doomsday Scrolls (2011), and The Fixer (2015), a four-part miniseries starring Eric Dane and Kathleen Robertson.
Kevon Cronin (Composer)
Kevon Cronin is a film and television composer whose recent work includes the upcoming IFC Midnight feature Hunter Hunter (Devon Sawa, Camille Sullivan) slated to hit theaters December 18th, 2020, the Lifetime film Anne Rule’s A House On Fire (Stephanie March, Shaun Benson) and the upcoming independent feature The Return starring The 100‘s Richard Harmon and Sara Thompson.
His music can also be heard in such projects as the Lifetime miniseries The Red Tent (Minnie Driver, Rebecca Ferguson), Hannibal Pictures’ USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage (Nicholas Cage, Tom Sizemore, Thomas Jane), the feature-length documentary Finding Noah (Gary Sinise), Momentum (Morgan Freeman, James Purefoy, Olga Kurylenko), Paco Cabezas’ Rage (Nicolas Cage, Peter Stormare, Rachel Nichols), and the U.K. television series The Missing Evidence among many others. Kevon also had the honor of orchestrating Hulu’s first scripted television series Battleground and the Dreamwork’s animated short Madly Madagascar (Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith).
Greg Nicod (Director of Photography)
Greg was born in France in 1980. His passion for movies started when he was a teenager, when he participated in several screenwriting competitions and documentary contests and got his first short documentary broadcasted on France 2 under the Telethon event in 1995. Greg moved to Canada in 1999 in Quebec province where he started his journey into the film industry. He had been fulfilling multiples positions on set and finally joined the rank of Aqtis (French Canadian union) in the Camera department in 2005 and then IATSE. Over the past 20 years in the film industry across Canada, Greg has filled roles ranging from various 1st AC to Camera Operator and Russian Arm operator on many French Canadian, international and large budget productions in film, TV, and commercials. While pursuing his career, Greg started to shoot as a cinematographer on various indie projects (music videos, commercials, artsy projects, and short films).
His collaboration on the short film Sacred Hairs by Mario Morin was a big breakthrough for his career as a Cinematographer, with the film earning several awards (Cleveland film festival, Shorts-Shorts films in Tokyo, Providence film festival, Edmonton Mosquer Festival, LA shorts) and being part of the last 10 movies selected for the Short film nominations list of the Oscar 2019.
Greg moved to Winnipeg in 2019 and landed the cinematographer’s job on his first feature film Hunter Hunter directed by Shawn Linden. He then had a collaboration with Guy Maddin on The Rabbit Hunter, a tribute short for Fellini. Greg is currently working on his second feature in Winnipeg.
Camille Sullivan (Anne)
Camille Sullivan is an award-winning Canadian Actress. Most recently she won the UBCP/ACTRA Best Actress Award for her work on the feature Kingsway which bowed at TIFF in 2019, she was also nominated in the same category for her standout work in the critically acclaimed miniseries UnSpeakable. In 2018 she won a LEO Award and was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Leading Actress for her brilliant work on the CTV miniseries The Disappearance.
Camille has twice been nominated for Gemini awards, once for the series lead role of Amy Lynch on the Shattered on CTV, and then again for her portrayal of Francine Reardon, the volatile cocaine and alcohol addicted ex-wife of a west coast crime boss, in Chris Haddock’s Intelligence for CBC.
She played a lead role in Mistresses, a drama pilot for Lifetime, written by Melissa Carter, and based on the British series of the same name. Other recent television credits include a recurring role on Man in the High Castle, Rookie Blue, Red Widowand Hellcats and Guest Stars on such shows as Proof, Motive, Falling Skies, Combat Hospital, Alcatraz, Flashpoint and The Killing.
Past film projects include the much-lauded Ally was Screaming for which she won the UBCP/ACTRA best actress award for her stunning performance. Camille was also luminous opposite Gabrielle Rose in the heartbreaking film Birdwatcher for which she garnered another UBCP/ACTRA best actress award. She won a third UBCP Award for her performance in Sisters and Brothers. Another lead credit includes Carl Bessai’s multiple award-winning dramatic feature film, Normal. Camille’s performance in Normal won her a LEO Award for Best Actress in a Feature Length Film. Other starring roles include Mount Pleasant, written and directed by Ross Weber, Mothers and Daughters, an improvised film directed by Carl Bessai for which she earned another LEO nomination. Camille also appeared in Bessai’s Fathers and Sons and now completes the set with Sisters and Brothers.
Camille was being honored with the Women In Film UBCP/ACTRA Artistic Achievement Award in June 2018. This award celebrates her body of work. Next, we will see Camille in the leading role in the feature film Hunter Hunter directed by Shawn Linden.
