New SKYLINES Movie Lands On Blu-ray And DVD 1/12

Writer-director Liam O’Donnell’s Skylines hits theaters and also Apple TV on December 18th via Vertical Entertainment. And today we learned Lionsgate will unleash the film on Blu-ray and DVD on January 12th.

The flick begins when a virus threatens to turn earth-dwelling friendly alien hybrids against humans. A team of soldiers takes on a mission to the alien’s world in order to save what’s left of humanity. It sports an R-rating for violence and language.

Lindsey Morgan stars with Jonathan Howard and Rhona Mitra. James Cosmo also joins them along with Alexander Siddig, Daniel Bernhardt, and Cha-Lee Yoon.

Meanwhile, the original Skyline followed Jarrod (Eric Balfour) and Elaine (Scottie Thompson) who take a trip to Southern California to visit his friend, Terry (Donald Faison), for a fun getaway, but it turns into a weekend of terror. During the night a cluster of strange, mesmerizing lights signals the arrival of an alien invasion. As thousands of terrified people are pulled into the maws of giant alien ships, Jarrod and his companions must use every skill they have to survive global genocide.

Then Beyond Skyline followed Detective Mark Corley who storms his way onto an alien spaceship to rescue his son. When the ship crashes in Southeast Asia, he forges an alliance with a band of survivors to take back the planet once and for all.

The original film sports a 16% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: A middling sci-fi entry, Skyline offers proof that solid special effects alone cannot overcome a flat storyline filled with uninspired dialogue.

Vertical Entertainment will release Skylines on Digital this Friday. Lionsgate will then unleash the film on Blu-ray and DVD on January 12th.
