More casting news is coming in quickly for the RoboCop remake. Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“Without a Trace”) has joined the cast to play the role of Detroit Police Chief Karen Dean. Can she handle the half-human law enforcer? Only time will tell.
Jose Padilha’s film is gearing up for a September start in Toronto and thus far stars Joel Kinnaman as the title hero, Hugh Laurie as the villain, plus Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel, Michael Kenneth Williams, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley.
Currently RoboCop has a tentative release date of August 9th, 2013.
Synopsis
In RoboCop the year is 2029, and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe, and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.
Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes its remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.
He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
