DEXTER Revival Has Snagged Two New Characters?

Showtime’s limited series Dexter revival hits next year. And today we hear rumblings of two new characters: a mother and daughter, Angela and Audrey.

The Illuminerdi writes: “The search is underway for an indigenous woman in their forties to play Angela and an indigenous woman who can play sixteen-year-old Audrey… These two are women of the Seneca tribe, though they do not live on the local reservation. Angela raises her environmentalist, activist daughter by herself, and makes a living as the chief of police in the town of Iron Lake, NY, which is presumably the primary setting of the show’s ninth season… Angela decided to become a cop at the age of fifteen, seeking closure for the disappearance of her friend. She is attractive, and her daughter Audrey strongly resembles her… The actress ultimately cast as Angela must be comfortable with simulated sex… These two characters will each undergo a series-long arc.”

Showtime evidently wants Julia Jones (Jonah Hex, Twilight: Eclipse, Westworld) as Angela. There is no specific actor of interest listed for the role of Audrey.

The new season might shoot next month with Michael C. Hall returning and (maybe) John Cusack as the bad guy. We’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned.

Marcos Siega will helm six of the revival’s ten episodes. He will also executive produce with Hall. John Goldwyn will too with Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, Scott Reynolds. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first four seasons, returns as well.

Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. said in a statement: “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”

Production begins next month with a premiere set for fall 2021.
