Rest in Peace: Phyllis DillerWhen it comes to careers in showbiz, few actors can say that they have done and seen as much as the legendary Phyllis Diller, who was actively working in the business until she was ninety-one years old. Sadly, she’s passed away, and we’d like to take this time to honor her memory.

While most people will remember Diller for her sense of humor and insane hair, the funny lady didn’t mind dipping her toe into the horror genre at all, playing parts in the little seen zombie kid classic The Boneyard as well as Rod Serling’s “Night Gallery” and “Tales from the Darkside.” We, however, especially this writer, will always love her for lending her voice talents to one of the all time classic children’s horror films, Rankin and Bass’ timeless 1967 film Mad Monster Party.

Phyllis passed away today at the fine old age of ninety-five. “She died peacefully in her sleep and with a smile on her face,” her longtime manager, Milton Suchin, told The Associated Press.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to wish Diller’s friends, family, and constituents our deepest of condolences.

To quote a line from Diller’s song from Mad Monster Party, “You’re Different”…

You’re different, and you know that’s what I like about you!” That’s what we LOVED about you, Phyllis. Rest in peace and thanks for all of the smiles.
