DEXTER Star Teases New Season Sports Story Worth Telling

Showtime’s upcoming limited series Dexter revival hits next year. And today, star Michael C. Hall promises this new season finally sports a story worth telling.

Hall tells The Daily Beast: “Yeah. It’s a conversation that’s been ongoing, and different possibilities have emerged over the years. I think in this case, the story that’s being told is worth telling in a way that other proposals didn’t, and I think enough time has passed where it’s become intriguing in a way that it wasn’t before.

He continues: “And let’s be real: people found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there’s always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling. I include myself in the group of people that wondered, “What the hell happened to that guy?” So I’m excited to step back into it. I’ve never had that experience of playing a character this many years on.”

The new season might shoot next month with Michael C. Hall returning and (maybe) John Cusack as the bad guy. We’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned.

Marcos Siega will helm six of the revival’s ten episodes. He will also executive produce with Hall. John Goldwyn will too with Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, Scott Reynolds. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first four seasons, returns as well.

Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. said in a statement: “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”

Production begins soon with a premiere set for fall 2021.
