Joe Hill Recommends CBS’s New Satanic Series EVIL
Locke & Key and NOS4A2 author Joe Hill doesn’t just write horror. He can also recommend it! Case in point, he desperately wants you to check out CBS’s new horror series Evil with Mike Colter and Michael Emerson on Netflix.
He tweets: “Guys, [Evil] is so good it’s Satanic. Infernal puns aside, it’s plenty scary, but so much more: smart, funny, full of dazzling performances, paradoxically light-hearted and deadly serious at the same time. If you missed S1 when it first aired you can catch it now on Netflix.”

The show centers on a skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard. She joins forces with a Catholic priest in training and a blue-collar contractor to investigate the church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries. These include supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences. Their job is to assess if there’s a logical explanation. Or if something truly supernatural is at work. They examine the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion.
Robert and Michelle King created the series which premiered back in September. CBS and King Size Prods. produced. CBS renewed the series for a second season. Mike Colter stars with Katja Herbers, Michael Emerson, Aasif Mandvi, Kurt Fuller, Marti Matulis, Brooklyn Shuck, Skylar Gray, Maddy Crocco, and Christine Lahti.
The first season sports a 91% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Smartly-written and effectively unsettling, Evil works best when it dares to delve into the depths of the uncomfortable questions it poses.
