Inspired by the viral fan fiction, Two Sentence Horror Stories is a critically-acclaimed psychological horror anthology series featuring a different sub-genre of horror in each episode.

Designed to subvert classic horror tropes by centering everyday people and diverse perspectives, the half-hour series taps into universal primal fears while tackling provocative social and cultural issues within our modern society. Created and Executive Produced by Vera Miao, Two Sentence Horror Stories is from award-winning studio Stage 13.

Season 2 premieres on January 12 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on The CW Network.

To celebrate the premiere of Two Sentence Horror Stories Season 2, Dread Central is hosting a “Dissecting Horror” virtual panel with Kimani Ray Smith (Director of “Bag Man”) and Liz Levine (Executive Producer of Two Sentence Horror Stories); I’ll be your moderator.

About the Panelists

Kimani Ray Smith

An action movie buff and all-around cinephile, Kimani Ray Smith landed his first big break as a stunt performer on Jackie Chan’s Rumble in the Bronx and has since taken on action roles in Hollywood blockbusters, including I Robot, Salt, A-Team, Twilight, Total Recall, and Deadpool. He wrote the CBC Short Film Award-winning Self Projections; co-wrote and directed the television pilot Evidence: The Truth Will Set You Free (shot on location in Giza and London); and wrote and directed the short films Static and Dead Wrong.

In 2008, Kimani produced the feature Cole, which premiered at TIFF and won Best Canadian Feature at the Atlantic Film Festival. Kimani then co-wrote and directed the short film Suffer, which won numerous awards on the festival circuit. The success of Suffer kick-started his feature debut, Evil Feed, which premiered at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival and is distributed by Screen Media.

Kimani continued to hone his craft, directing over 50 hours of Second Unit on the SyFy series Olympus and Van Helsing, the BBC America/AMC series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, and the Netflix action series Wu Assassins. Kimani also helmed three webisodes for the Syfy series Continuum. Kimani has continued to excel and follow his passion in the world of film and television, directing two episodes of Van Helsing for Syfy.

Liz Levine

Liz Levine is a producer, transmedia ideator, and writer whose two decades of creative contributions span platforms and genres.

Liz’s produced films include Kyra Sedgwick’s directorial debut Story of a Girl starring Kevin Bacon, Jason Banker’s critically acclaimed Toad Road, and Across My Land (Palme D’or nominated, Cannes). 

Liz has also developed television at SonyTV, CBStv and TBS. She marries her strong sense of story with the practical skills of production derived from years as both a 1st AD and line producer.  She has overseen physical production on film, television and commercial productions for a variety of clients ranging from brands like Volkswagen and Schwartzkopf to studios and broadcasters including A&E and CBC. 

She is currently executive producing Two Sentence Horror Stories with Stage 13. 

Liz’s memoir, Nobody Ever Talks About Anything But The End, was published by Simon & Schuster in early 2020.  The Globe and Mail says it is, “Haunting and filled with dark humor …an honest and calm look at the chaos of life.”

Liz resides in Vancouver and Los Angeles.
