No, Mike Flanagan’s New Netflix Series Isn’t a Secret Sequel
Netflix and Mike Flanagan’s new miniseries Midnight Mass is in the can. And now, Flanagan felt the need to take to Twitter to also make sure we all know that the upcoming series is NOT a secret sequel to The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Check out his post below.
Netflix and Flanagan recently wrapped shooting their new miniseries. Flanagan also released a (super) lengthy series of tweets detailing how his cast and crew pulled off the 83-day shoot during COVID. Check out his full statement HERE.
While not much is known about the seven-episode series, we do know it centers on an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events (and frightening omens) after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest. Also, Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes) recently teased it’s like Salem’s Lot meets The Perfect Storm.

No character names or descriptions have been revealed. But the series has gathered up its killer cast. It includes – get ready – The Haunting of Hill House stars Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas, Robert Longstreet, and Annabeth Gish along with Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep), Zach Gilford (The Purge: Anarchy), Hamish Linklater (Legion), Michael Trucco (Hunter Killer), Samantha Sloyan (Grey’s Anatomy), Rahul Abburi (Killer Ransom), Crystal Balint (The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco), Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon), Rahul Kohli (Supergirl), Kristin Lehman (The Chronicles of Riddick), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods), and Annarah Shephard.
Whew. That’s one hell of a cast! Sounds like fun to me!
