Netflix Will Release New Amy Adams Thriller THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW … Soon
Netflix will release Atonement and Hanna director Joe Wright’s thriller The Woman in the Window with Amy Adams. And today, after years of delays, Wright says the thriller will hit Netflix in the first half of the year.
Wright tells EW: “I liked the idea of the kind of minimalist constraints of making a film completely set in one house. I’m also interested in the blurring between subjective and objective reality, truth and lies, and the lies we tell ourselves and how we create our own reality. I didn’t know the book prior to reading the script. And I was thrilled and excited and I wanted to know what happened next.”
He adds: “I’m very interested to see how people respond to the film. I can’t wait for its release. What I hope people will take away from this is a sense that our own fears can incarcerate us. And this is a story about a woman who manages to overcome her own fears, and leave them behind her.”

Described as Rear Window meets Gone Girl, the film is based on A.J. Finn’s (aka Dan Mallory) bestselling novel. The psychological suspense thriller centers on an agoraphobic child psychologist who befriends a neighbor across the street from her New York City brownstone, only to see her own life turned upside down when the woman disappears and she suspects foul play.
Gary Oldman and Julianne Moore also co-star with Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brian Tyree Henry, and Wyatt Russell. Tracy Letts wrote the script. Scott Rudin and Eli Bush produced. It will hit Netflix in the first half of the year.
