ANNOUNCEMENT: Dread Central Is Heading to Television with Paranormal PaparazziIt’s been a long road for us here at Dread Central. What started out as an idea has grown into something bigger than we ever could have anticipated. Being that we have been infecting your monitors for so long, it’s time for us to make the jump to cable television on Travel Channel.

That’s right, kids! Dread Central will be presenting a segment on several episodes of the new original series “Paranormal Paparazzi,” which premieres on Friday, September 28th, at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT.

This new sliver of spooky comes to us from the mind of “Ghost Adventures'” Zak Bagans, who serves as executive producer on the series, and is hosted by paranormal researcher, journalist, and personality Aaron Sagers.

Sagers, host and co-exec producer of “Paranormal Paparazzi,” is an entertainment journalist and contributor to CNN.com. He is founder of the entertainment website Paranormal Pop Culture. His work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, The Miami Herald, Playboy.com, and MSNBC.com among other outlets. He has spoken at conventions such as San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con of the topics of Pop Culture Curses, Celebrity Ghost Stories, Zombies, Apocalyptic Cultures, Horror, and Paranormal Entertainment. He has appeared on the Travel Channel and CNN and was a guest judge on “Paranormal Challenge.” He resides in NYC and is a professor of journalism at New York University.

I’m really excited about ‘Paranormal Paparazzi’ because it is such a unique addition to the paranormal genre,” says Sagers. “In a fast-paced format, my team of reporters travel around the country tracking down and filming the most current, bizarre, and unsolved paranormal stories. We also revisit some classic stories to shed new light, uncover fresh evidence, and get a new take from witnesses.

Sagers continues, “In each episode the audience travels along with my reporters and experiences what they do as they research, track down, and shoot their stories in the field. Then they return to our newsroom to share their reporting and findings to me – and we’ll hash out whether the story has real merit or not.

There is also a strong celebrity component as my reporters strike out to interview famous faces and dive into the horror world. There will be interviews with celebrities revealing their own paranormal experiences. We also go to a variety of places including a zombie survival camp in New Jersey, an apocalypse bunker in the mountains of Texas, the Amityville Horror house in New York, Will Ferrell’s haunted trailer in New Orleans, and more.”

“I’ve experienced some crazy things – a few of them with Zak and his crew,” Sagers adds, “but I’m still a skeptic. And this show lends itself to the skeptical crowd. For those who question the paranormal, or don’t believe in it at all, the show is still a fun ride that takes viewers to a variety of locations across the country they wouldn’t necessarily go to and shows them things they may not typically get to see.”

Speaking of Zak, he, too, chimed in on what viewers can expect from the new show.

I am SUPER-STOKED to have Dread Central involved in my new series, ‘Paranormal Paparazzi’” says Bagans. “They will be featured in various episodes, giving us exclusive inside-look segments within the horror and gore industry… there’s no one better to do this than them. ‘Paranormal Paparazzi’ is a macabre newsroom full of a group of diverse opinionated reporters led by Aaron Sagers giving us the most bizarre supernatural news headlines across the globe…. pop culture has never been so weird! I promise… you will laugh, you’ll get freaked out, you’ll fall in love and say “WTF is that?!?!?!?” A lot!!!!!!…this is ‘Paranormal Paparazzi.'”

As you can imagine, this is a HUGE step for us, and we’d like to thank Zak for taking a chance on our little asylum. Special thanks also go out to Dan Farrands, KW Low, Mike Maddocks, Jon Condit, Joe Townley, Adam Green, Debi Moore, Andrew Kasch, Buz “Danger” Wallick, and of course you guys. We have a lot of cool things in store for you cats and hope that you will dig it! We’re keeping a lid on exactly what and who for now, but believe me when I say star power and lunacy abound!

Synopsis
The all-new original series “Paranormal Paparazzi” features eight half-hour episodes, each of which follows Aaron Sagers’ (journalist, pop culture enthusiast, editor-in-chief of the Paranormal Pop Culture blog) hand-picked team of reporters as they travel around the country tracking down the most current, bizarre and unsolved paranormal stories. As Sagers’ team reveals their findings in the fast-paced newsroom, the group reviews and assesses whether or not the stories are bona fide or bogus.
